Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright: Power and Design
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright boasts the UK’s lightest corded lift-out. It proves itself ideal for hoovering those hard to reach places in your home. Unsure whether a corded vacuum cleaner will allow you the same reach as a cordless? Well you don’t need to worry about being held back by a cord with the Air Lift Steerable Advance. This model has a hefty 10m cord which gives you plenty of reach to access those high up and hard to reach areas. It’s also great for cleaning the stairs, soft furnishings and even your car upholstery too.
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright’s technology allows you to navigate smoothly around furniture and other obstacles with ease, without being held back. The fully reclining element to this steerable model allows you to easily get underneath beds, sofas and other low down furniture to really clean those areas which usually prove tricky to reach.
The suction provides a very powerful pick-up and gives both a high performance on carpet and hard floor for a total home clean. Vax assures users that this multi-cyclonic model won’t experience any loss of suction and that they can expect a constant, powerful pick-up every time.
Despite its cleaning power, the Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance only uses 950w of power so you can rest assured that you can keep your house beautifully clean whilst also aiming to reduce your carbon footprint. It has also achieved AAAA performance ratings. Rated A for energy, A rated for hardfloor pick-up, A rated for carpet pick-up and A rated for emissions. Not bad.
Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright: Weight and Performance
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright is a high performance, multi cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner which promises to have the UK’s lightest lift-out cylinder, weighing in at just 3.5kg.
This bagless model is really handy and means that you don’t have to keep stopping to empty a fiddly bag. The 1.5l bin is compact and emptying the bin is also fuss free. You simply lift the cylinder out and then release a clip on the bottom of the bin, which then pops open dropping out the contents of the bin neatly and cleanly. It also comes with washable filters too, if you like to keep your vacuum cleaner extra clean.
Compact and lightweight, the Aix Lift Steerable Advance Upright model itself weighs just 6.2kg, so you can carry and manoeuvre it round your home with ease on all surfaces including carpets, hard floors, laminate flooring, soft furnishings, upholstery and stairs.
The Air Lift Steerable Advance also has the added bonus of a powerful turbo tool which can remove embedded dirt and pet hair from any room in your home with ease. It also comes with a 3-in-1 tool, soft dusting brush, high angle tool, fur & fluff tool, upholstery tool and hard floor adaptor so you can switch easily to clean any surface.
With that being said, if you do have a pet, then you may be interested in two additional models in the Vax Air Lift range. The Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Upright and the Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Max Upright offer two great solutions for pet owners to help keep their home clean and fur free.
Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Max Upright
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Max Upright is a superb option for pet owners. This high performance, multi-cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner could be the ideal solution to getting rid of that unwanted pet hair.
Truth be told, there’s not a huge amount of difference between the Air Lift Steerable Advance and the Air Lift Pet Max. Both weigh 6.2kg, both have steerable technology and both have a 1.65m hose. There is a small difference in the length of the cord, the Pet Max has a slightly shorter cord at 9m, compared to the Steerable Advance which has a 10m cord.
In terms of additional tools, both models come with the fur and fluff tool which is great for removing stubborn pet hair from sofas, chairs and pet beds. Both the Pet Max and Steerable Advance also have the 3-in-1 dusting brush, crevice and upholstery tool, as well as turbo tool which is great at removing pet hair from carpets and hard floors. However, the Steerable Advance comes with additional tools that you don’t get with the Pet Max, including a hard floor adaptor and high angle tool.
Like the Steerable Advance, the Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Max Upright also has a handy HEPA filter which traps small particles and pet hair, making it an excellent solution for allergy sufferers.
In terms of price, the Pet Max is approximately £10 cheaper than the Steerable Advance, so if you’re not bothered about the extra tools and slightly shorter cord, it’s a cheaper option that will still do a great job at picking up pet hair and generally providing a strong clean.
Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Upright
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Upright is another great option, especially if you have pets. Promising the same high performance as the Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet Max Upright, this multi cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner also has the UK’s lightest lift-out cylinder.
With its powerful pick-up suction, steerable technology and versatility it’s certainly a fantastic model for any pet owner. Like both the Pet Max and Steerable Advance upright, this model also weighs 6.2kg so it’s quite easy to move around, plus it has the same 10m cord as the Steerable Advance Upright, so a metre longer than the Pet Max model.
Like its counterparts above, this model also has the very useful 3-in-1 tool and powerful turbo tool with powerful suction and fast rotating brushes. These promise to remove embedded dirt and pet hair from any surface and as it’s suitable for both carpet and hard floors, you can rest assured that your home will be sparkling clean.
However, perhaps surprisingly given its name, the Air Lift Steerable Pet does not come with the fur and fluff tool that you do get with both the Air Lift Steerable Advance and the Air Lift Steerable Pet Max. which it has to be said is a bit of a miss when it comes to this model.
With the price of this model currently the same as the Pet Max and £10 cheaper than the Steerable Advance, we’d recommend going with either of the other two Air Lift models if you have pets in your home. It seems silly to pay the same price as the Pet Max but miss out on the fur and fluff tool.

- Bagless with easy to empty bin

Vax Air Lift Steerable Advance Upright: Verdict
The Vax Air Lift Advance Steerable Upright is a great choice if you are on a budget but still want a model that offers unbeatable performance on both carpets and hard floors. The multi-cyclonic technology that provides no loss of suction means that you are always guaranteed a thorough clean.
Although a corded vacuum, thanks to its 10m cord this isn’t a hoover you’ll need to constantly plug-in and move. The Advance Steerable provides good reach so is great at cleaning stairs and upholstery, as well as large rooms in one go.
If you’re a pet owner, there are other options in the Air Lift range, but for the sake of around £10 we’d recommend going with the Steerable Advance Upright. It has all the features of the two pet options – including the handy fur and fluff tool – but also has a range of other attachments that make your life easier when cleaning your home.
The Vax Air Lift Advance Steerable Upright is a great choice if you’re looking to invest in a new corded, bagless upright. We hope this review has helped you to make an informed decision.
