Dyson 360 Heurist: Power and design
The 360 Heurist is the latest robot vacuum cleaner from Dyson, but it’s actually only the second robot vacuum that Dyson has released to market. They first released the Dyson 360 Eye in 2014, so the 360 Heurist has arrived some six years later. It’s been a long time coming but this latest model does not disappoint.
With its Dyson digital motor V2 and patented Radial Root Cyclone technology, the Dyson 360 Heurist is small and lightweight, yet extremely powerful. It spins at 78,000rpm, meaning it gives you an incredible 20% more suction than its predecessor, the Dyson 360 Eye. This makes it ideal for deep cleaning any surface including carpets, rugs, hard floors, laminate and tiled floors. In terms of power and vacuuming performance, the 360 Heurist is about as close as you’re going to get to the output of an upright vacuum from a robot vacuum.
The 360 Heurist has the powerful suction of a Dyson using unique robot technology. Its unique intelligent vision system helps it to navigate, so it always knows where it is in the room. This handy model builds and refines a map of your home to give you a thorough clean every time.
The Dyson 360 Heurist has three power modes to choose from. You can simply change the power level depending on your chosen type of clean. In quiet mode the Dyson 360 Heurist offers 75 minutes run time which should be plenty of time to clean a large space. You get less run time when you want more power, as is standard across the Dyson cordless range.
Dyson 360 Heurist: Weight and performance
Weighing just 2.51kg, the Dyson 360 Heurist is lightweight and moves around your home with ease. Plus with its slim, circular design, it can fit into narrow gaps and corners to pick up dirt, dust and pet hair thoroughly.
Not only does the Dyson 360 Heurist offer great suction and cleaning performance, it learns and adapts to suit your home. It even remembers where it has cleaned previously, to build a better picture of your home over time.
The Dyson 360 Heurist has a unique LED light ring. The eight LED lights work in tandem with the SLAM module to navigate in any lighting, even low light. The lights illuminate the camera’s field of view, while mirrors help to focus the robot’s sensors so it always knows where it’s heading.
The Dyson 360 Heurist uses a full-width brush bar to give you a powerful clean on any surface. The 212mm-wide brush bar stretches the full width of the machine, so it offers edge to edge cleaning every time. It spins even fine dirt powerfully into the bin with no mess and no fuss.
As it doesn’t have any wheels, it never gets stuck. The Dyson 360 Heurist is able to maintain straight-line cleaning. It also turns on the spot, climbs obstacles and navigates changes in floor surfaces easily.
As well as offering a powerful clean, the Dyson 360 Heurist also filters allergens and expels clean air back into your home, making it perfect for allergy sufferers. The machine filtration captures 99.97% of allergens and particles as small as 0.3microns, so your home is always clean and safe.
Dyson 360 Heurist: Unique technology
The Dyson 360 Heurist is an impressive piece of kit for those who like their tech. Using Bluetooth wireless technology, you can connect your robot to your smartphone quickly and easily. Plus, it uses WiFi to connect to the Dyson Link app, giving you control from anywhere, so it’s always ready to go whether you’re at home, in work or on the go. This is a particularly useful feature – you can be out all day but can still get the 360 Heurist to clean your home with a quick click on the app.
The Dyson 360 Heurist has a fantastic 360 navigation system. As it travels along, the robot’s sensors take a distance measurement every 20 milliseconds, so it always knows where it is and where it still has to clean. This is an extremely clever machine.
Using the Dyson Link app, you can be in complete control of your 360 Heurist. This allows you to schedule cleans, see status reports and get any software updates. You can also create cleaning zones and change your robots behaviour in each one, so it cleans differently in each room, which is extremely useful if you have a mix of flooring types.
With its simple one-touch control, you can always be in control of your clean. The useful icons show the status of the 360 Heurist and communicate a variety of messages, including battery charge levels, blockages and Wi-Fi status so you always know when your vacuum might need a bit of maintenance.
The Dyson 360 Heurist has an amazing advanced memory. Using powerful quad core processors, the robot can store maps and constantly change them over time. It has a whopping 10GB of memory to enable continuous learning and improvement, a marked improvement on its predecessor.
How do you charge the Dyson 360 Heurist?
The 360 Heurist comes with a docking station, and impressively the robot vacuum will return itself to the docking station when it needs to be charged. This means if you’ve asked it to clean your home whilst you’re out for the day, it will recharge itself and finish the job if it runs out of battery when cleaning.
360 Heurist: Why should you choose a robot vacuum cleaner?
Robot vacuums have come a long way in recent times and can offer excellent suction and pick up power, often comparable or close to what an upright or cordless vacuum can do. They also can squeeze into those tight spaces and corners with ease. The Dyson 360 Heurist is a great option if you’re considering a robot vacuum cleaner because it has a powerful suction and offers fuss free cleaning without having to pick up a heavy vacuum.
As it connects to WiFi, you can schedule cleans from your smartphone and control your robot vacuum from anywhere. The smart technology and memory adapts to suit every room in your home and this clever system learns and adapts to improve the cleaning performance even more.
There are lots of things to love about the Dyson 360 Heurist, but it is worth noting that it won’t be able to clean the stairs, so it’s possibly better suited if you live in a flat or one story house. Or, as many robot vacuum owners do, you may want to have an upright vacuum too for jobs that the 360 Heurist can’t do. The 0.33L dust canister is another thing to be aware of, it isn’t as large as Dyson’s other corded and cordless models so it will need to be emptied more regularly which can prove problematic, especially if you’re out but have scheduled a clean.
While a robot vacuum may not necessarily replace your usual vacuum cleaner, having one can really reduce how often you need to get your regular one out, meaning you spend less time cleaning so it could be a good option for those who have a busy lifestyle.
It’s also worth noting that the 360 Heurist does not come cheap. It’s a lot more expensive than most cordless or corded vacuums, but it is a great option if you’ve got the budget for one.

Dyson 360 Heurist review: Verdict
The Dyson 360 Heurist robot vacuum cleaner is certainly up there with the best in robot hoovers. It performs well in terms of cleaning power and performance and there are certainly lots of unique features.
Lightweight and slim, it is able to move around your home effortlessly, picking up dirt and dust from both carpet and hard floors, using the full width brush bar. It performs as well as some of Dyson’s other models but the best thing is that it can clean totally unaided.
We particularly liked the fact that you can connect this model to WiFi so you can plan and schedule cleans from work or when you’re on to go, making it an amazingly handy tool for when you don’t have much time. It also gets to know the layout of your home and changes and adapts its performance to give you an improved clean which is particularly clever.
It’s not all positive though. This is an expensive piece of kit, and it can’t do all the jobs a traditional vacuum cleaner can do, namely cleaning the stairs. So you might need to have an upright vacuum too for certain jobs. It’s also got a fairly small bin capacity, so will need emptying more often than a cordless machine.
For a robot vacuum though, this is a really impressive option which offers a thorough clean. If you’ve got the budget and want something to take on your vacuuming for you, the 360 Heurist is your guy.
